Jagoba Arrasate: "I liked the way we approached the match"

The Rojillo boss spoke to the media after his team clinched a spot to the next round of the Copa del Rey.

Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate said he was pleased with his team’s performance and victory in the opening round of the Copa del Rey.

“Mission accomplished,” Arrasate said. “I liked the way we approached the match. You have to take these games seriously. The team showed determination, played at a high tempo and took the lead, which always gives you confidence. We accomplished our mission, and we’re through to the next round.”

Arrasate said his players needed to match their opponents’ intensity and effort before demonstrating their technical superiority.

“I really liked that the team tried to take control from the first minute,” he said. “We played with intensity and performed well both with and without the ball. We valued teamwork and keeping a clean sheet. I think it was a positive test.”

Arrasate said the team’s excitement would grow as it advanced through the competition.

“You become more excited with every round, but you have to take it seriously from the beginning,” he said. “Hopefully, it will be a long journey. We’ve reached the first stop, and now we’re going for the second.”
